As the sun rose over San Antonio on March 22, 2025, the buzzing energy of horror fans from across the country was unmistakable. The Kings of Horror Convention offered a unique chance to dive deep into the spine-chilling universe of horror films and thrillers. There were celebrity meet-and-greets, creative vendors, food, coffee, blood and more, the event promised an unforgettable day for all ages.
Before the doors opened, excitement filled the convention center as attendees lined up, proudly showcasing their costumes. The striking array included everything from the iconic Scream mask to fully realized zombie makeup, bringing characters to life in ways that were very impressive. I think nearly 50% of attendees wore costumes, really adding to the atmosphere. I did not wear a costume, as I was wearing my Buffalo Bill's House T-shirt from the house that was in The Silence of the Lambs.
Celebrity Meet and Greets and Photos
One of the biggest highlights of the Kings of Horror Convention was the impressive lineup of celebrities There were more i dont have a full list) Fans lined up to meet the actors and actresses from their favorite horror films.
Here are some pictures. It was a great experience for fans, as they learned how these actors brought nightmares to life on screen and got autographs and pictures.
The Merchants of Mayhem
Walking through the vendor area felt like stepping into a creativity-fueled nightmare. The variety was breathtaking, showcasing everything from handmade horror-themed jewelry to life-sized replicas of beloved horror icons. And Tshirts.
The marketplace wasn’t merely a shopping experience; it was a celebration of horror culture where creativity and fear were on full display. Items like T-shirts featuring classic horror film posters or limited-edition prints from artists added to the excitement. The lack of MLM junk was very nice and all the merchants seemed like genuine horror fans with amazing products people actually wanted. It seemed like the organizers of the event were careful in screening the vendors because they were all really great (except maybe too many Funko Pops? do people still buy those?).

Panel Discussions and Workshops
One of the convention's standout features was a lineup of engaging panel discussions led by industry professionals. These experts offered insights into various aspects of horror, including writing terrifying scripts and mastering the art of special effects makeup. I did not attend any panels so I don't have much to comment on this.
Official After Party
There was an official after party, however, NewBraunfelsDogs was unable to stay for that, due to the need to race home and walk the dog and catalog my items/treasures/artwork.
It was an amazing day and I can't want for the next convention.
